Tengstedt’s Two Goals Lift Toulouse to a 3-2 Ligue 1 Win

Toulouse turn a two-goal burst into victory

Toulouse defeated Le Havre 3-2 at Stadium Municipal in Ligue 1 Round 5 on Saturday. The result ended Toulouse’s run of two defeats and two draws in their previous four matches, while Le Havre suffered a fifth consecutive result in that sequence after also entering the game with two defeats and two draws.

The decisive spell came just after half-time. Casper Tengstedt opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 49th minute, then doubled Toulouse’s advantage two minutes later with a normal goal assisted by Thomas Jorgensen. Tengstedt left the match in the 72nd minute after producing two goals from two shots on target, earning an 8.2 rating.

Le Havre respond, but Toulouse restore their lead

Le Havre reduced the deficit in the 71st minute when Josh Maja scored from Sota Nakamura’s assist. Toulouse answered eight minutes later, with Jorgensen finding the net after Cristian Casseres supplied the assist. Mbwana Ally Samatta scored for Le Havre in the 88th minute, but the late goal did not produce an equaliser.

The substitutions arrived around the key turning points. Le Havre made three changes between the 69th and 70th minutes, introducing Enzo Koffi, Sota Nakamura and Junior Mwanga. Toulouse replaced Tengstedt, Ilyas Azizi and Rafik Messali in the 72nd minute, bringing on Santiago Hidalgo, Sion Oppong and Alexis Vossah.

Statistics show Le Havre created more shots

Toulouse held 53% possession and completed 410 accurate passes from 476 total, compared with Le Havre’s 353 accurate passes from 406. However, Le Havre registered more total shots, 18 to 14, and more attempts on target, 7 to 5. Toulouse’s five goalkeeper saves, compared with two for Le Havre, also underline the visitors’ attacking threat. The scoreline therefore favoured Toulouse despite Le Havre leading the shot counts.

Toulouse committed 17 fouls and received three yellow cards, shown to Christ Tape, Niko Sigur and Seny Koumbassa. Sota Nakamura was Le Havre’s only booked player. Neither side received a red card.

Jorgensen leads Toulouse’s individual effort

Jorgensen was the highest-rated player, receiving an 8.4 after completing 90 minutes. He scored once, assisted Tengstedt’s second goal and created three key passes. Goalkeeper Guillaume Restes also made five saves and received a 7.4 rating, while Maja and Samatta scored for Le Havre.

Toulouse began the round 17th with two points from four games, while Le Havre were 16th with two points. Toulouse now have five points after their first win, and Le Havre remain on two, giving the hosts the stronger immediate position after the result.
