Sassuolo’s 19 shots earn a 2-1 win over Torino

Sassuolo defeated Torino 2-1 in Serie A on Saturday, August 29, completing a comeback from half-time parity to claim the win in Regular Season - Round 2. The result ended Sassuolo’s run of losses, while Torino suffered another defeat after both teams had entered the match with a loss as their most recent result.

Volpato breaks the deadlock

Torino had possession, Sassuolo had the shots

The scoreline reflected Sassuolo’s greater attacking output, even though Torino controlled more of the ball. Torino had 54% possession, 531 total passes and 477 accurate passes, compared with Sassuolo’s 46%, 437 passes and 386 accurate passes. However, Sassuolo attempted 19 shots to Torino’s 10, put seven on target to Torino’s four, and recorded 11 shots inside the box against eight.

Torino goalkeeper D. Mascardi made five saves, while Sassuolo’s goalkeeper made three. Sassuolo also had more shots from outside the box, 8-2, though it was caught offside five times compared with Torino’s zero.

Volpato leads the ratings

Volpato was one of the match’s standout performers, earning an 8.2 rating despite playing 60 minutes. He scored once, registered two shots on target and created three key passes. Berardi also received an 8.2 after his short but decisive contribution. Comuzzo was Torino’s highest-rated player at 7.8 after scoring and making eight tackles.
