Racing Club’s 14 shots fuel 3-1 win over Sarmiento Junin

Racing Club defeated Sarmiento Junin 3-1 at Estadio Presidente Perón, securing the win after the teams were level 1-1 at half-time. The result came in Liga Profesional Argentina’s Clausura, Round 10, in Avellaneda.

Goals decide an open first half

Racing took the lead in the 23rd minute when Gonzalo Escudero finished an attack assisted by Ulises Ortegoza. Sarmiento responded only three minutes later. J. Marabel equalised with assistance from J. Contrera, restoring parity before the interval.

Racing regained control seven minutes after half-time. Adrian Martinez scored in the 52nd minute, with Ortegoza providing his second assist of the match. Facundo Sava made a series of changes from the 58th minute, introducing Diego Churin and J. Renteria, followed later by E. Gimenez, G. Diaz and G. Gonzalez. Racing replaced Escudero with N. Colombo in the 78th minute. The substitutions did not alter the result, as Racing protected its advantage.

Rodríguez leads the ratings

Ignacio Rodríguez was the standout performer, earning an 8.0 rating. He played 92 minutes, scored Racing’s third goal and recorded a shot on target, a key pass and a tackle. Marcos Rojo also completed 92 minutes and produced two key passes and two tackles.

Effect on the Clausura table

Before the match, Racing were 15th in Clausura Group B with five points from nine games, while Sarmiento were second with 16 points.
