Musa’s Winner Lifts FC Dallas Above Austin in Round 19

FC Dallas defeated Austin 2-1 at Q2 Stadium, overcoming Austin’s second-half equalizer to secure all three points in Major League Soccer’s Regular Season Round 19. Austin controlled possession for long periods, but Dallas produced more shots and the decisive attacking moment through Petar Musa.

Dallas Takes Early Lead

FC Dallas took the lead in the 45th minute, when L. Abubakar scored with an assist from S. Moreno. The goal arrived just before half-time and gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage after a closely contested opening period.

The first half also featured two early cautions as Ramiro was booked for Dallas in the 33rd minute and M. Djordjevic received a yellow card for Austin two minutes later. Dallas entered the interval ahead despite having less of the ball, setting the pattern for a match in which efficiency outweighed territorial control.

Austin Equalizes but Musa Decides

Austin responded after the restart, with E. Torres equalizing in the 57th minute to make it 1-1. The goal briefly shifted the momentum toward the hosts, who continued to move the ball through their 3-4-3 system and earned seven corner kicks overall.

Dallas found the winning goal in the 73rd minute. J. Valiente supplied the assist for Petar Musa, whose goal restored the visitors’ lead and ultimately settled the match despite Austin’s efforts to find a second equalizer.

Possession Favors Austin, Chances Favor Dallas

Austin enjoyed 64% possession and completed 485 of 562 passes at an 86% accuracy rate, compared with Dallas’ 36% possession and 250 completed passes. The hosts therefore dictated much of the passing rhythm, but that control did not translate into a higher volume of chances.

Dallas recorded 15 total shots to Austin’s nine, led shots on target 6-4 and produced the higher expected-goals figure, 0.96 to 0.51. The visitors also had 11 shots from inside the box, compared with six for Austin, while Brad Stuver made four saves and Jonathan Sirois made three.

Western Conference Impact and Standout Performers

The result came with a busy disciplinary record. B. Kamungo, J. Valiente and O. Urhoghide joined Ramiro in receiving yellow cards for Dallas, while O. Svatok and M. Uzuni were also booked for Austin, taking the match total to seven cautions.

Ervin Torres was the standout performer by rating, earning an 8.0 after playing 97 minutes and scoring Austin’s equalizer. Musa followed with a 7.9 rating, one goal and three shots on target, while Moreno rated 7.7 after providing an assist and creating six key passes.
