Paris FC turn limited possession into a 3-0 win

Paris FC defeated Nice 3-0 at Stade Jean Bouin on Sunday, August 30, securing their first victory of the Ligue 1 regular season. The hosts led 1-0 at half-time and added two further goals after the interval to complete a convincing scoreline, despite Nice having more of the ball and a slightly higher total-shot count.

The opening goal arrived in the 21st minute when L. Sinayoko converted a penalty for Paris FC. Nice’s Y. Paris FC make their chances count

The final goal came in the 89th minute. V. Marchetti finished a move assisted by P. Zabi, confirming a 3-0 result for Liam Rosenior’s 4-2-3-1 side against Olivier Pantaloni’s 3-4-2-1 formation. Paris FC had four shots on target, the same number as Nice, while Nice recorded 15 total shots to Paris FC’s 14. The difference was in the quality of the opportunities: Paris FC’s expected-goals figure was 2.74, compared with 0.57 for Nice.

Result changes the early league picture

The statistics showed a match that was more balanced in possession and volume than the scoreline suggested. Nice also won four corners to Paris FC’s two, but Paris FC produced 10 shots from inside the box and limited Nice to nine. The hosts’ goalkeeper made four saves, while Nice’s goalkeeper made one, another indication of Paris FC’s greater efficiency in the decisive moments.

Paris FC entered the round 14th with one point from one game, while Nice were 13th with the same record. The victory gives Paris FC three points from two matches and changes their recent form from a draw to a win. Nice, who also began with a draw, now move to a defeat in their latest result and remain on one point from two games.

Pierre Lees Melou was the standout performer by match rating, earning 8.2 after playing 93 minutes and making eight tackles. Chergui also made a decisive contribution with a 7.7 rating and the second goal as Paris FC converted their opportunities to claim all three points.
