Monaco Turn Four Shots into a 2-1 Comeback Win over PSG

Monaco came from behind to beat Paris Saint Germain 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Friday, overturning a half-time deficit and securing a third consecutive Ligue 1 victory. Paris Saint Germain led through Marcos Aoás Corrêa, but Flavio Nazinho and Stanis Idumbo scored after the interval to complete the visitors’ comeback.

PSG lead before Monaco respond

Paris Saint Germain controlled much of the opening period and took the lead in the 31st minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia supplied the assist for Marcos Aoás Corrêa, who converted to put Luis Enrique’s side 1-0 ahead. The hosts carried that advantage into half-time, with Monaco unable to find an answer before the break.

Monaco’s response arrived 13 minutes after the restart. Jordan Teze provided the assist for Flavio Nazinho, whose normal goal levelled the contest in the 58th minute. The visitors then completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute, when Aleksandr Golovin set up Stanis Idumbo for Monaco’s second goal.

Monaco withstand sustained pressure

The scoreline did not reflect Paris Saint Germain’s control of possession or their attacking volume. The hosts had 68% of the ball, completed 687 passes compared with Monaco’s 294, and attempted 21 shots to the visitors’ four. PSG also registered nine shots on goal, while Monaco had two, and earned five corners without conceding one.

Despite that pressure, Monaco held on, helped by goalkeeper L. Hrádecký, who made eight saves and received the match’s highest rating of 8.8 after playing all 90 minutes. Paris Saint Germain’s six blocked shots and 13 attempts from outside the box also illustrated their sustained effort, but they could not turn their territorial advantage into a second goal.

Discipline and changes

The match produced one yellow card for each side. Lucas Hernández was booked for Paris Saint Germain in the 68th minute, while Jordan Teze was also cautioned in the same minute for Monaco. Both teams made several changes as the match developed, including Paris Saint Germain introductions for Ferrán Torres, Lucas Hernández, Mika Godts and Ousmane Dembélé, while Monaco brought on Jordan Teze and Anis Soubeir.

Different trajectories after three matches

The result leaves Paris Saint Germain without a win after three league games. They entered the match ranked 12th with two points from two draws, and now have a loss to add to that sequence. Monaco started the fixture third with six points from two victories and have now extended their perfect opening run to three wins. The visitors’ efficiency proved decisive against a PSG side that dominated the statistics but finished empty-handed.
