Lazio’s 88th-minute winner preserves perfect Serie A start

Lazio came from behind to beat Udinese 2-1 on Monday, moving to six points from two Serie A matches. The result leaves Lazio two points ahead of Udinese, who remain on four points after two games, while leaders AS Roma have nine.

The match was goalless at half-time before Udinese struck in the 49th minute, when Jesper Karlstrom converted Keinan Davis’s assist. Lazio levelled through Davide Frattesi in the 75th minute, set up by Mattia Zaccagni, and completed the turnaround when Albert Gudmundsson scored in the 88th minute from Danilho Doekhi’s pass.

Frattesi supplied the turning point with Lazio’s 75th-minute equaliser and now has three goals in three appearances on the league scorer chart. Gudmundsson then delivered the winner after 10 minutes on the pitch, earning a 7.8 match rating, while Zaccagni contributed one assist, two shots on target and two key passes in 91 minutes.

Why it matters

Lazio’s second straight win keeps them sixth with six points and a goal difference of two, three points behind Roma. Udinese’s first defeat leaves them 10th on four points, five behind the leaders, with one win and one draw from their opening two matches.
