Getafe 1-1 Celta Vigo as Starfelt Cancels Out Satriano

Getafe 1-1 Celta Vigo: the points were shared after Martin Satriano put the hosts ahead and Carl Starfelt levelled in the second half. Getafe led 1-0 at half-time, but Celta’s control of possession and a numerical advantage after Zaid Romero’s dismissal helped the visitors earn a draw at the Coliseum.

Satriano gives Getafe the lead

Getafe made the breakthrough in the 21st minute through Martin Satriano, whose normal goal gave Pepe Bordalás’ side the advantage. Satriano was Getafe’s highest-rated player, receiving a 7.8 rating after playing 73 minutes and registering one shot on target.

The hosts reached the interval in front despite having less of the ball overall. Celta controlled 70% possession and completed 499 accurate passes from 590, compared with Getafe’s 171 accurate passes from 254. However, Getafe remained effective enough to protect their lead during the opening half.

Starfelt restores parity

Celta’s pressure was rewarded in the 57th minute when Carl Starfelt scored to make it 1-1, with Hugo González providing the assist. Starfelt completed the match with a 7.7 rating, one shot on target, one key pass and three tackles. González also earned a 7.7 rating, contributing two shots on target and three key passes in addition to the decisive pass.

The equaliser reflected Celta’s statistical superiority. Claudio Giráldez’s team attempted 16 shots to Getafe’s 10, including eight shots inside the box compared with six for the hosts. Celta also led the shots on target count 3-2 and the corner count 5-3, although the figures did not translate into a winning goal.

Red card changes the closing stages

Getafe’s task became more difficult in the 67th minute when Zaid Romero was shown a red card after having already received a yellow in the 55th. Celta made several changes around that period, including the introductions of Javier Rueda García, Sergio Carreira Vilarino and Couhaib Driouech in the 64th minute, followed by Borja Iglesias in the 69th. Getafe later replaced Satriano with Iván Azón in the 73rd.

Johan Mojica was booked in the 45th minute, while Carl Starfelt, Ramón Terrats and Marcos Alonso also received yellow cards during the match. Despite playing with 10 men, Getafe held on for a point, with the result remaining 1-1 at full time.

Both teams remain near the bottom

The draw leaves Getafe 15th with three points from three matches, having won one and lost two, with a goal difference of minus three. Celta move to 17th on two points from four games after two draws and two defeats, also with a minus-three goal difference. Getafe’s recent form was loss, win, loss, draw, while Celta’s was draw, loss, loss, draw, making this result a continuation of an unsettled start for both sides.
