Frattesi’s Goal Gives Lazio a 1-0 Win Despite Genoa Possession

Lazio secured a 1-0 victory over Genoa at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, with Davide Frattesi’s first-half goal deciding the Serie A meeting. The result leaves Lazio 10th with three points from one game, while Genoa sit 15th without a point after one match.

Frattesi strikes before half-time

The only goal arrived in the 25th minute. Nuno Tavares provided the assist for Frattesi, who scored a normal goal to give Lazio a 1-0 lead. That advantage remained intact through half-time and the final whistle, despite Genoa having more of the ball during the match.

Lazio made an early change when R. Belahyane replaced N. Rovella in the 37th minute. Genoa responded with a substitution of its own in the 58th, sending Junior Messias on for D. Sow. Messias was later the highest-rated player in the match, earning a 7.7 rating in 36 minutes after recording one key pass and three tackles.

Genoa had possession but limited attacking return

However, Lazio created more shooting opportunities and carried the greater attacking threat. Lazio also led shots on target 2-1, shots off goal 8-4 and blocked efforts 5-3. The expected-goals figures reinforced that difference, with Lazio at 1.55 and Genoa at 0.57. The scoreline was narrow, but the shot count and chance-quality figures favoured the winners.

Late changes and disciplinary incidents

Lazio made two changes in the 63rd minute, with A. Pedraza replacing Tavares and G. Isaksen coming on for M. Cancellieri. Genoa also changed its attack when M. Osmajic replaced Vitinha. J. Vasquez was replaced by Amorim in the 78th minute.

The match included several cautions. Genoa’s L. Ostigard was booked in the 14th minute, and D. De Rossi received a yellow card in the 35th. In the 90th minute, Lazio’s M.
