Real Salt Lake’s second-half response was immediate and sustained. M. Guilavogui reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 50th minute after being set up by N. Caliskan, and D. Luna completed the recovery in the 64th minute by converting S. Lobjanidze’s assist.
The equalizer shifted momentum toward the hosts, but Dallas found the decisive late opening. R. Binyamin scored in the 90th minute from another Ramiro assist to restore the visitors’ lead, while the match also produced six yellow cards, including bookings for Luna, D. Yedlin and P. Ruiz of Salt Lake and Binyamin, N. Norris and S. Moore of Dallas.
Possession Favors Hosts but Efficiency Decides Result
Real Salt Lake controlled more of the ball and finished with the superior attacking numbers, recording 58% possession, 14 total shots and seven shots on target. The hosts also completed 547 passes at an 85% accuracy rate, compared with Dallas’ 397 passes at 79%, and won six corners to the visitors’ three.
Those advantages did not translate into the result because FC Dallas was more efficient in front of goal. The expected-goals figures were close, with Dallas at 1.72 and Salt Lake at 1.67, while Dallas goalkeeper saves numbered four compared with one for the home side, underlining the visitors’ ability to withstand pressure and capitalize on key chances.
Valiente Shines as Dallas Strengthen Western Conference Position
Joaquín Valiente was the standout performer, earning an 8.9 rating after completing 93 minutes with one goal, two assists and three key passes. His involvement in all three of Dallas’ first-half goals gave the visitors the foundation for the win.
Musa added two goals in 45 minutes, while Luna led Salt Lake’s comeback with a goal, an assist and five key passes.
