Celta Vigo 1-1 Malaga: Adrian Nino’s late equaliser earns a point

Celta Vigo and Malaga drew 1-1 in La Liga’s fifth regular-season round, with each side taking a point. Celta held the advantage at half-time after Ferran Jutglà opened the scoring in the 41st minute. Hugo González supplied the assist, giving the home side a lead that reflected their greater threat in front of goal during the opening period.

The first half also produced one booking for each team. Malaga’s Einar Galilea was shown a yellow card in the 24th minute, followed two minutes later by Celta’s Yoel Lago. Galilea did not return after the interval, with Ramón Enríquez replacing him at half-time.

Malaga recover through Adrian Nino

Malaga changed their attacking options during the second half, and the adjustments eventually produced an equaliser. Juan Cruz replaced Joaquín Muñoz in the 61st minute, while Carlos Puga and Adrian Nino came on for Dani Lorenzo and Izan Merino in the 67th. Adrian Nino then scored in the 83rd minute, converting Pablo Martínez Andrés’ assist to make it 1-1.

Celta also made two changes as the match progressed. Williot Swedberg replaced Hugo González in the 62nd minute, and Hugo Burcio came on for Ilaix Moriba in the 74th. Those changes followed González’s contribution to the opener, but Celta could not restore their lead after Malaga’s late response.

Possession favours Malaga, chances favour Celta

The statistics showed a difference between control and attacking output. Malaga had 55% possession and completed 487 accurate passes from 550 attempts, compared with Celta’s 398 accurate passes from 457. Malaga also won five corners to Celta’s one. However, Celta recorded more total shots, 17 to 12, and more shots on goal, 5 to 2. The hosts also had the higher number of efforts from inside the box, 7-6.

Malaga’s Alfonso Herrero was required to make four saves, while Celta goalkeeper records one. Celta’s six offsides contrasted with Malaga’s total of zero, and both teams committed 10 fouls. Neither side received a red card, and the final score left the contest level despite Malaga’s greater possession.

Both teams remain in the lower positions

Celta Vigo are listed 16th with three points from five matches, having recorded three draws and two defeats. Their recent form sequence was draw, loss, loss, draw, draw. Malaga remain 18th with two points from four games after two draws and two losses, matching a recent sequence of loss, draw, loss, draw. The result therefore extended both teams’ unbeaten result for the match without lifting either clear of the lower end of the table.

Adrián Niño Heredia was the standout performer by rating, earning 8.2 after 23 minutes on the pitch. His goal, one shot on target and one key pass made an immediate impact from the bench. Jutglà also received an 8.2 rating after scoring Celta’s goal and registering two shots on target.
