Campaz scores, but Miramón gives Gimnasia L.P. a 2-1 win

Rosario Central lost 2-1 to Gimnasia L.P. at Gigante de Arroyito, with Ignacio Miramón scoring two minutes after Jaminton Campaz had levelled the match. The result gave Gimnasia L.P. the points despite Rosario Central controlling much of the contest.

Late goals decide the match

The opening half ended goalless, with Rosario Central making two changes at the interval as F. Mallo Blanco replaced I. Ovando and A. Soto came on for A. Sandez. Gimnasia L.P. made its first change in the 53rd minute, sending F. Torres on for M. Zalazar.

The deadlock was broken in the 59th minute when C. Ledesma put the ball into his own net for Gimnasia L.P. Rosario Central responded with further substitutions, including E. Copetti and F. Navarro in the 67th minute, while A. Colazo replaced A. Auzmendi for Gimnasia L.P. in the 70th.

Central finally found an equaliser in the 86th minute. T. Badaloni provided the assist for J. Campaz, who finished to make it 1-1. Gimnasia L.P. answered almost immediately, with I. Miramon scoring in the 88th minute to restore the visitors’ lead and secure the win.

Central had the greater share of play

Central also led the shot count 13-11, had seven shots on target to three, and won nine corners to three. Those figures contrasted sharply with the final score, as Gimnasia L.P. converted its limited opportunities more effectively.

Rosario Central’s 0.57 expected goals also reflected a match in which its territorial control did not produce enough clear-cut finishing.
