Belgrano’s 20 shots produce only a 1-1 draw with Huracan

A level scoreline after Belgrano’s stronger attacking display

Belgrano Cordoba drew 1-1 with Huracan in the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura on Friday, September 4, at Estadio Julio Cesar Villagra. The result leaves Belgrano fifth in Clausura Group B with 11 points from seven listed games, while Huracan remain 10th with nine points. Both teams have three wins, two draws and two losses recorded in the current standings for Belgrano’s campaign, while Huracan have two wins, three draws and two losses.

Fernández puts Belgrano ahead

The opening goal arrived in the 61st minute. Nicolás Fernández finished for Belgrano after an assist from Ramiro Hernandes, giving the home side a lead that reflected much of the match’s attacking balance. Fernández was replaced by Lucas Passerini in the 74th minute after producing five shots on target and two key passes.

Hernandes had entered shortly before the goal, replacing Juan Velázquez in the 58th minute, and made an immediate impact with the assist. Belgrano also brought on Francisco González Metilli for Franco Vázquez in the 73rd minute as they looked to maintain their advantage.

Caicedo rescues a point for Huracan

Huracan found an equaliser in the 84th minute through Jordy Caicedo, who converted from Cesar Ibañez’s assist. The goal came after Huracan had made several changes, including the introductions of Juan Francisco Bisanz, Bruno Barticciotto and Emmanuel Ojeda. Caicedo completed the match, later receiving a yellow card in the 90th minute.

Statistics favour the hosts

Belgrano controlled 55% of possession and completed 396 accurate passes compared with Huracan’s 306. Their attacking advantage was even clearer in the shot count: Belgrano registered 20 attempts, including 13 from inside the box and eight on target, while Huracan had seven total shots, four inside the box and three on target. The figures made the draw a less rewarding result for the home side, although Huracan goalkeeper H. Galíndez produced seven saves to help preserve the point.

Belgrano also led the corner count 6-3 and made 467 total passes to Huracan’s 387. Both teams committed fewer than 10 fouls, with Belgrano on 10 and Huracan on nine, and each side received two yellow cards. Emiliano Rigoni and Lisandro López were booked for Belgrano, while Ibañez was cautioned before setting up the equaliser.

Galíndez stands out

Galíndez was the highest-rated player, earning an 8.0 rating after playing all 90 minutes and making seven saves. Caicedo also impressed for Huracan with a goal and two shots on target, while Belgrano’s Fernández was rated 7.8 for his goal and attacking contribution. The draw adds a point to both teams’ Clausura records and preserves their respective positions in Group B.
