Barcelona stay perfect as Yamal’s brace seals 4-2 win at Levante

Barcelona beat Levante 4-2 on Sunday, stretching their La Liga record to four wins from four matches. The result keeps Barcelona first on 12 points and leaves Levante 13th on five, with a seven-point gap between them.

How it happened

Barcelona took control before half-time through Xavi Espart’s fifth-minute finish, assisted by Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal’s 19th-minute goal, also created by Raphinha. Yamal struck again from the penalty spot three minutes after the restart to make it 3-0.

Levante responded late, with Iván Romero scoring in the 79th minute and Roger Brugué reducing the deficit again in the 88th. Barcelona restored their two-goal margin in the 90th minute when Karim Adeyemi finished from Marc Bernal’s assist.

The numbers

Barcelona held 75% possession and completed 711 accurate passes from 782 attempts, compared with Levante’s 171 accurate passes from 243. That control did not produce a large shot advantage: Barcelona had 12 total shots to Levante’s 13, with both teams recording 10 efforts inside the box.

The difference came in the finishing and goalkeeping details. Barcelona put six shots on target and scored four, while Levante registered seven on target; Barcelona goalkeeper saves numbered four, compared with two for the home side.

Who decided it

Lamine Yamal supplied the decisive scoring contribution with two goals, including the 48th-minute penalty, and earned an 8.2 match rating in 66 minutes. Raphinha shaped the first half with two assists, three key passes and a rating of 8.4 across 90 minutes.

Adeyemi also made an immediate impact from 23 minutes, scoring once and registering two shots on target for a 7.8 rating. Espart’s early goal and six tackles earned him a 7.6 rating.

Why it matters

Barcelona’s fourth straight win preserves a perfect 4-0-0 start, while Levante remain on 1W, 2D and 1L after four rounds. Barcelona have now scored 17 goals overall, including 10 in two away matches; Levante have five goals in total.
