Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in the round’s biggest result, strengthening their position in second place. Antonio Rüdiger pulled one back in the 89th minute, but Real Madrid could not find an equaliser.

The result leaves Atletico Madrid on 16 points from seven matches, level with third-placed Real Betis but ahead on goal difference. Real Madrid remain fourth on 15 points, with two defeats already recorded. The margin separating second and fourth is now one point, while Sevilla sit fifth on 13 points after their loss to Barcelona.

Barcelona maintain perfect record

Barcelona preserved their flawless start by winning 3-1 at Sevilla. Youssouf Fofana put Sevilla ahead in the 19th minute, but Raphael Dias Belloli responded three minutes later. He struck again in the 52nd minute and completed his hat-trick in the 69th.

Celta Vigo produce the round’s largest win

Celta Vigo beat Racing Santander 5-0, moving through a match that featured five different scoring moments. Niño Rodríguez scored twice in three minutes as Elche won 3-1 at Espanyol, finding the net in the 26th and 29th minutes. Víctor Chust’s own goal made it 3-0, while Germán Valera scored Elche’s fourth in the 78th minute.

Results across the rest of the round

Villarreal beat Levante 3-1. Ayoze Pérez and Iván Romero exchanged goals in the 41st and 42nd minutes, Alberto Moleiro restored Villarreal’s lead in the 54th, and Georges Mikautadze completed the scoring in the 86th.

Valencia lost 3-2 at home to Real Sociedad. Luka Sučić scored in the 26th minute, Aaron Mayol added a second in the 57th, and Carlos Soler converted a 75th-minute penalty for Valencia. Luken Beitia Aguirregomezcorta’s own goal extended Real Sociedad’s advantage before Ander Barrenetxea scored in the 90th minute.

Getafe secured a 1-0 win over Malaga through Iván Azón’s 85th-minute goal. Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano drew 1-1, with Ante Budimir scoring in the 16th minute and Sergio Camello equalising in the 50th. Athletic Club and Alaves finished 0-0. Deportivo La Coruna and Real Betis also drew 1-1 after Cucho Hernández and Diego Villares scored in the 43rd and 87th minutes respectively.

Pressure at the bottom

The standings underline the importance of Elche’s victory. They remain 18th on five points, but moved to within two points of safety after earning a first win of the season. Valencia are 19th on four points after their fifth defeat, while Malaga remain bottom on three points without a win. Across the ten matches, 30 goals were scored, with the leading clubs continuing to separate themselves from the teams at the foot of the table.
