Arsenal’s 2025/26 Premier League campaign became a story of early acceleration, defensive control and resilience at the top of the table. 5-0 Over Leeds Put Arsenal Top in Round Two

The season began with a narrow 1-0 win away to Manchester United, but Arsenal were only sixth after round one. Their response against Leeds was emphatic: a 5-0 home victory in round two, the biggest win of the campaign, lifted them to first place.

Seven Points from Five Rounds Tested First Place

The middle of the campaign brought more resistance, but Arsenal remained top. They drew 0-0 with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, lost 2-3 at home to Manchester United, then restored momentum with wins over Leeds and Sunderland before a 1-1 draw at Brentford.

The tougher five-round spell came later, from rounds 29 to 33, when Arsenal took seven points. After beating Brighton and Everton, they drew 2-2 at Wolves, lost 1-2 to Bournemouth and fell 1-2 away to Manchester City, dropping to second place while still holding 70 points.

The dip was defined by narrow margins rather than a defensive collapse. Arsenal still kept clean sheets against Brighton and Everton, and across the season their 27 goals conceded ranked alongside a broader record of 19 clean sheets and no matches in which they failed to score.

Four Clean-Sheet Wins Restored Arsenal’s Lead at 85 Points

Arsenal answered the loss of first place with four consecutive victories, all accompanied by clean sheets. They beat Newcastle 1-0, Fulham 3-0, West Ham 1-0 and Burnley 1-0, moving from 70 to 82 points and reclaiming the summit.

The campaign ended with a 2-1 away win at Crystal Palace in round 38, taking Arsenal to 85 points from 26 wins, seven draws and five defeats. Their home record of 15 wins, two draws and two losses complemented an excellent away return of 11 wins, five draws and three losses.

V. Gyökeres led the listed scoring charts with 14 goals in 36 appearances, while L. Trossard and M. Ødegaard each recorded six assists. Together with Arsenal’s 41-11 home goal record, those contributions helped produce a balanced side that could win through attacking quality or defensive discipline.
