Andres Vombergar's brace lifts Aldosivi to a 3-1 win

Aldosivi take control before half-time

Aldosivi defeated Banfield 3-1 in the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura, securing their first win of the current campaign after eight rounds. The hosts led 2-0 at half-time and held on despite Banfield pulling one goal back early in the second period.

The opening goal arrived in the 34th minute, when Renzo Malanca scored an own goal to put Aldosivi ahead. Bautista Dadín was booked six minutes earlier, while Banfield also collected first-half cautions for Nicolás Meriano and Tomas Adoryan. Felipe Anso was shown a yellow card for Aldosivi in the 37th minute.

Aldosivi doubled their advantage in the 42nd minute. Martín García supplied the assist for Andres Vombergar, who finished to give the home side a two-goal cushion at the interval. Banfield made a change at half-time, replacing Nicolás Meriano with Lautaro Martín Gómez, while Aldosivi introduced Tomás Fernández for Bautista Dadín.

Vombergar restores the two-goal lead

Banfield reduced the deficit in the 51st minute through Matías Hernández, who converted a penalty. Their response was short-lived, however, as Vombergar scored again one minute later. Tomás Fernández provided the assist, and Aldosivi were back in control at 3-1.

Banfield made three more changes in the 60th minute, with David Zalazar, Federico Medina and Santiago Esquivel entering for Tomas Adoryan, Lisandro Geronimo Piñero and Ignacio Pais Mayán. Matías Hernández later made way for Federico Anselmo in the 70th minute. The second half also brought yellow cards for Mateo Sebastián Vales, Lautaro Ezequiel Cano, David Zalazar and Rodrigo González. There were no red cards.

Aldosivi more productive in attack

The statistics supported Aldosivi's victory. They had 53% possession, recorded 20 shots to Banfield's 13 and put nine efforts on target compared with three from the visitors. Banfield did have a slight edge in shots inside the box, seven to six, and completed three more accurate passes, 203 to 200, but Aldosivi's greater attacking volume proved decisive. Banfield goalkeeper D. Rodríguez made six saves, while Aldosivi's goalkeeper made two.

Andres Vombergar was the standout performer, earning a 9.2 rating after scoring twice and registering three shots on target. His brace turned Aldosivi's strong first-half position into a convincing victory.

Result changes the Clausura picture

Aldosivi entered the match 15th in Clausura Group B with two points from seven games and now move to five points from eight. Banfield began 12th with seven points from seven matches; the defeat leaves them on seven points after eight rounds. The result also ends Aldosivi's sequence of three successive defeats, while Banfield's recent draw-loss pattern continues with another loss.
