Lorient

Estac Troyes
Estac Troyes secured a 2-1 win over Lorient at Stade du Moustoir on Saturday, recovering from a second-half goal to claim all three points in Ligue 1’s second regular-season round. Troyes led 2-0 at half-time before Lorient reduced the deficit through Jean-Victor Makengo, but the hosts could not complete the comeback.
Troyes build a two-goal lead
The decisive first-half moments arrived after 29 minutes, when Renaud Ripart converted a penalty for Estac Troyes. Lucas Maronnier then doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 38th minute, scoring a normal goal assisted by Antoine Mille. That gave Troyes control of the contest at the interval despite Lorient eventually having much more of the ball.
Lorient responded six minutes after the restart. Makengo found the net in the 51st minute to make it 2-1, giving the home side a route back into the match. He was also Lorient’s highest-rated player, receiving a 7.8 rating after scoring once and recording one shot on target in 73 minutes.
Lorient dominate possession but fall short
The statistics showed a clear difference between control and outcome. Lorient had 67% possession and completed 591 accurate passes from 674 attempts, compared with Troyes’ 238 accurate passes from 320. The hosts also finished with more total shots, 14 to 11, and more shots on goal, 5 to 2. Troyes, however, registered 10 shots inside the box to Lorient’s eight and converted twice, making their finishing and penalty more influential than Lorient’s territorial advantage.
Troyes goalkeeper made three saves, while Lorient recorded none. The visitors also won five corners to Lorient’s two, although they were caught offside three times. The match remained disciplined: neither side received a yellow or red card. Lorient committed nine fouls and Troyes 11.
Late changes cannot alter the result
Lorient made several attempts to change the momentum, bringing on Aiyegun Tosin and Isak Jensen in the 66th minute, followed by Panos Katseris and Souleymane Faye in the 73rd. Troyes introduced Kandet Diawara at 67 minutes and Dermane Karim for Mille in the 78th. The substitutions did not produce another goal, and Troyes held on through the closing stages.
The result moves the teams in opposite directions in terms of form after both had most recently drawn. Lorient, listed 11th with one point from one game before this fixture, suffered their first defeat, while 14th-placed Troyes, also on one point from one game, registered their first win. The final score reflected Troyes’ efficiency even as Lorient controlled much of the match.
