59% Possession Could Not Prevent Toulouse From Drawing 2-2 at Lorient

Lorient drew 2-2 with Toulouse at Stade du Moustoir after surrendering a two-goal half-time lead. Lorient were ahead 2-0 at the break, but Toulouse responded with goals from Casper Tengstedt and Thomas Jorgensen to take a point in Ligue 1’s fourth regular-season round.

Lorient build a two-goal advantage

The hosts made the breakthrough in the 37th minute. Panos Katseris supplied the assist for Ibrahima Balde, who scored Lorient’s first goal. Two minutes later, Katseris again created the opening, this time for Noah Mbamba to make it 2-0. Mbamba completed 69 minutes and finished with one shot on target, while Balde also registered a goal and a shot on target.

Katseris was booked in the 17th minute, the only yellow card of the match. He was replaced by Théo Le Bris in the 58th minute, while Gabin Bernardeau made way for Isak Jensen at the same time. Lorient used a 3-4-2-1 under A. Dujeux, compared with Toulouse’s 4-2-3-1 led by Jens Berthel Askou.

Toulouse turn the match around

Toulouse changed two players at half-time, bringing on Niko Sigur for Rafik Messali and Casper Tengstedt for Santiago Hidalgo. The changes were followed by a quick response: in the 48th minute, Cristian Casseres assisted Tengstedt, who reduced the deficit. Casseres then created Toulouse’s equaliser in the 68th minute, setting up Jorgensen for his second-half goal.

Tengstedt played 45 minutes and scored with his only shot on target. Jorgensen completed the match and recorded three shots on target. Toulouse also replaced Ilyas Azizi with Sion Oppong in the 67th minute, while Lorient brought on Mamadou Kone for Balde one minute later. Neither side received a red card.

Possession and shot volume favour Toulouse

The scoreline did not reflect Toulouse’s overall control of the ball. The visitors had 59% possession and completed 579 accurate passes from 654 total, compared with Lorient’s 370 accurate passes from 443. Toulouse also led 13-10 in total shots and 13-6 in efforts from inside the box. Lorient took more shots from outside the box, 4-0, while shots on goal favoured Toulouse 4-3.

Casseres was the standout performer, earning a rating of 8.6 after completing 90 minutes. His two assists were supported by five key passes and six tackles. The draw leaves Lorient eighth with four points from three matches, while Toulouse remain 17th with one point. Lorient’s recent sequence is now Draw, Loss, Win, Draw; Toulouse’s is Loss, Draw, Loss, Draw.
