3-0 Win Sends Brentford Third as Chelsea’s Possession Comes to Nothing

Brentford beat Chelsea 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium to claim a clear Premier League victory. Jaidon Anthony opened the scoring in the 61st minute before Igor Thiago and Fabio Carvalho added late goals. The result leaves Brentford third with nine points from five matches, while Chelsea remain seventh on seven points.

Anthony breaks the deadlock

The match stayed goalless until the 61st minute, when Anthony put Brentford ahead with a normal goal assisted by Jannik Schuster. It was a decisive moment in a contest where Chelsea had more of the ball but Brentford produced the sharper attacking numbers in the areas that mattered most.

Brentford then strengthened their advantage in the closing stages. Thiago scored in the 83rd minute, and Carvalho completed the scoring in the 90th minute. Carvalho had been introduced for the final three minutes according to the performance data, making his goal an immediate contribution. Anthony finished with 81 minutes, one goal, one shot on target and one key pass.

Chelsea had possession but lacked accuracy

Late cards and a strong Brentford finish

Brentford made changes as they protected their lead. Michael Kayode and Yehor Yarmoliuk were replaced by Aaron Hickey and Mamadou Sangare in the 69th minute, while Chelsea introduced Geovany Quenda and Josh Acheampong for Danny Welbeck and Wesley Fofana two minutes later. Thiago was booked in the 84th minute, followed by Sangare in the 85th. Brentford finished with two yellow cards, while Chelsea received none, and there were no red cards. Thiago’s goal and his 7.5 rating made him another key contributor, while Schuster supplied the assist and posted a 7.2 rating.

Different directions in the table

Brentford’s unbeaten record extended to five league matches, with two wins and three draws. Chelsea’s record moved to two wins, one draw and two losses. The 3-0 scoreline also changed the contrast in goal difference: Brentford stood at plus six after the match, while Chelsea were on minus two.
