3-0 Win Keeps Dortmund Perfect as Nmecha Strikes Twice Late

Borussia Dortmund defeated SC Paderborn 07 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, securing a third successive victory in all competitions listed in their recent form and maintaining a perfect Bundesliga record after two games. Dortmund led 1-0 at half-time and added twice in the final 10 minutes to complete a comfortable win.

Early lead sets the tone

Dortmund needed only five minutes to move in front. Fábio Silva finished a normal goal after an assist from Serhou Guirassy, giving the hosts an early advantage. Paderborn stayed within one goal for most of the match, but their attacking output did not produce a shot on target. Laurin Ulrich received the only first-half booking in the 39th minute.

Nmecha finishes the match

Nmecha doubled Dortmund’s lead in the 80th minute, with Maximilian Beier providing the assist. He struck again in the 89th minute, this time finishing a move set up by Sabitzer. The substitute’s two goals turned a narrow lead into a clear victory. Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham was booked in the 66th minute, while neither team received a red card.

Dortmund control the numbers

The statistics support Dortmund’s control of the contest. They held 56% possession, completed 465 accurate passes from 556 attempts and won the corner count 7-3. Their 14 total shots included 10 from inside the box and eight on target. Paderborn managed 10 shots, but all eight of their attempts off target and their five shots inside the box failed to test the goalkeeper. Dortmund’s goalkeeper made no saves, while Paderborn’s made five.

Dortmund were also more active in key attacking areas, recording three blocked shots to Paderborn’s two. The visitors were awarded 11 free kicks to Dortmund’s six, but that advantage did not translate into a goal. The final score therefore reflected the difference in finishing and pressure, even though Paderborn’s total shot count was only four lower.
