29 goals as Ipswich steal late win and Manchester City stay perfect

Zian Flemming’s 90th-minute goal gave Ipswich a 3-2 win at Crystal Palace in the round’s most dramatic finish. Palace led twice through Anan Khalaili and Emersonn, but Ipswich responded with Leif Davis, Jörgen Strand Larsen and Flemming to claim all three points.

Leeds make the biggest statement

Leeds produced the round’s largest victory, beating Newcastle 4-1. Lewis Miley’s own goal put Leeds ahead before Jayden Bogle doubled the lead two minutes later. Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it 3-0 before half-time, and Noah Okafor added another in the 59th minute. Bazoumana Touré scored Newcastle’s consolation in the 90th minute.

Brighton were also emphatic winners, defeating Coventry 5-0. Charalampos Kostoulas opened the scoring, while Malick Yalcouyé, Pascal Groß from the penalty spot, Lewis Dunk and Yasin Ayari completed the rout. Brighton’s goal difference is now 11, the best among the six leading sides listed.

City stay perfect in Manchester

Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win at Manchester United. Erling Haaland scored in the 60th minute, leaving City on 15 points from five matches. Their eight-goal goal difference keeps them at the top of the standings, three points clear of Arsenal.

Arsenal strengthened second place by winning 2-0 at Sunderland. Enzo Le Fée and Bruno Guimarães scored two minutes apart in the second half, before Bukayo Saka converted a 90th-minute penalty. Arsenal now have 12 points, with four wins from five matches.

Goals and late turns elsewhere

Bournemouth and Brentford shared a 2-2 draw. Kevin Schade scored twice for Brentford, either side of goals from Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier. Schade’s brace made him one of the round’s joint top scorers alongside Mohamed Belloumi.

Belloumi also scored twice as Hull City drew 2-2 with Chelsea. Morgan Rogers and Belloumi exchanged early goals before Belloumi struck again in the 34th minute. João Pedro equalised in the 66th minute.

Nottingham Forest won 2-1 away to Aston Villa. Liam Delap gave Villa the lead shortly after half-time, but Alysson Edward Franco da Rocha equalised in the 74th minute and Igor Jesus completed Forest’s comeback in the 88th.

Liverpool were held 0-0 by Fulham, while Tottenham and Everton also finished goalless. Those results made it a round of 29 goals across 10 matches, despite the two scoreless fixtures.

Brentford, Leeds and Liverpool occupy fourth, fifth and sixth on nine points. Brentford and Leeds remain unbeaten in the listed records, with two wins and three draws apiece, while Liverpool have the same points from two wins, three draws and one defeat. Brighton’s 10 points put them just above that group and strengthen their position among the European places.
