Talleres turn control into a 2-1 victory

Talleres Cordoba defeated Union Santa Fe 2-1 at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on Saturday, September 12, securing a Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura victory in Round 9. Talleres led 1-0 at half-time after a controlled first period and held on despite Union reducing the deficit in the final minute.

Alvarez Martínez sets the tone

The opening goal arrived in the 39th minute. Federico Fattori supplied the assist for Agustin Alvarez Martínez, who put Talleres ahead. The goal gave O. De Felippe’s side a lead after both teams began in 4-2-3-1 formations, with Leonardo Madelon using the same shape for Union.

Talleres extended their advantage in the 75th minute. Alvarez Martínez turned provider, assisting Valentin Depietri for the second goal. Union responded late, with Erik Ramirez scoring in the 90th minute after Bruno Pittón’s assist, but there was no time for a second equaliser.

The result gives Talleres three points after their listed Clausura record of two wins, two draws and five losses, moving them from eight to 11 points if added to that nine-match total. They were listed 14th in Group A. Union, listed sixth with 13 points from nine games, followed a recent pre-match draw with a defeat and remained on 13 points from the supplied standings.
