Huracan take 2-1 win after second-half response

Huracan defeated Racing Club 2-1 in Round 9 of the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura on Monday, September 14, 2026. The victory moved Huracan’s Clausura total from 10 points after eight matches to 13, while Racing remained on five points after suffering another defeat.

Three goals changed the contest

The match was goalless at half-time, but Huracan broke through eight minutes after the restart. Facundo Waller put the hosts ahead in the 53rd minute, with Lucas Blondel providing the assist. Racing responded quickly: Diego Ulises·Ortegoza equalised in the 59th minute to restore parity.

Huracan then found the decisive goal in the 78th minute. Jordy Caicedo finished from Thaiel Peralta’s assist, putting Huracan back in front and securing the win. The change involving Peralta came five minutes earlier, when he replaced Facundo Kalinger di Napoli.

Racing had more of the ball but not the result

Racing controlled 60% of possession and completed 388 accurate passes from 486 attempts, compared with Huracan’s 235 accurate passes from 322. That control did not translate into the scoreline. Huracan registered 21 total shots to Racing’s 15 and produced 15 shots inside the box, six more than their opponents.

Racing did lead 9-6 in shots on goal and forced Huracan goalkeeper H. Galíndez into seven saves. Huracan’s three goalscoring chances were converted efficiently, while Racing could not find a second equaliser after Caicedo’s goal. The hosts also had the advantage in shots outside the box, 5-5, and recorded five blocked efforts to Racing’s two.

Discipline and changes

Marcos Rojo received Racing’s first yellow card after four minutes. Huracan’s Facundo Kalinger di Napoli was booked in the 71st minute, while Cesar Ibañez and Racing’s Matko Miljevic were cautioned in the 90th. Neither team received a red card.

Racing made an early change when Juan Barinaga replaced Ezequiel Cannavo in the 44th minute. Duván Vergara replaced Matías Zaracho in the 69th, and Adrián Fernández and Miljevic came on for Ortegoza and Gastón Lódico in the 82nd. Huracan also brought on Bruno Barticciotto for Juan Francisco Bisanz in the 62nd minute.

Waller leads Huracan’s key performers

Waller was the standout player by match rating, earning 8.2 after 85 minutes. His goal, two shots on target and three key passes underpinned his contribution. Galíndez also played a major role with seven saves and an 8.0 rating, while Caicedo finished with a goal, two shots on target and a 7.8 rating. The result gives Huracan a win in their latest form entry; Racing’s latest entry is a loss.
