However, only three of those efforts were on target, and City limited United to no goals despite the home side’s statistical advantage.

City’s two shots on goal came from six attempts overall, and the visitors were more efficient in the crucial moment. United’s four offsides and 17 fouls also formed part of a stop-start match, while City won 17 free kicks and took seven corners to United’s six. The figures show a result that did not follow the possession or shot count: United had more of the ball and created more attempts, but City finished with the points.
