Juventus take control before the break

Juventus defeated Atalanta 2-0 at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, with the victory leaving Luciano Spalletti’s side in control of a match they led 1-0 at half-time. Playing in a 3-4-2-1 against Atalanta’s 4-3-3, Juventus created the clearer openings and protected their advantage after the interval.

The first major turning point came in the 28th minute. Francisco Conceição opened the scoring with a normal goal assisted by Z. Celik, giving Juventus the lead after a period in which both teams had already tested the referee’s discipline. T. Kristensen was booked for Atalanta in the 17th minute, while Conceição received a yellow card five minutes later. F. Kessie added Atalanta’s second booking in the 43rd minute.

Bremer seals the result

Atalanta made an attacking change at half-time, with K. Alajbegovic replaced by P. M. Sarr for Juventus in the 46th minute. The visitors later brought on G. Raspadori, G. Gaetano and G. Scamacca, but they could not turn their possession into enough accurate attempts.

Juventus doubled their lead in the 77th minute. Bremer scored from E. Zhegrova’s assist, completing the scoring and giving the home side greater security. Zhegrova had entered for Conceição in the 72nd minute, while N. Gonzalez made way for T. Koopmeiners at the same time. Conceição finished with a goal from 71 minutes, while Zhegrova supplied an assist and three key passes in a 20-minute appearance.

Juventus create the better chances

The statistics support Juventus’ stronger attacking performance, although the scoreline was not produced by overwhelming possession. Juventus held 53% of the ball and Atalanta 47%, while the hosts recorded 14 total shots to the visitors’ 10. The more important difference was accuracy: Juventus had five shots on goal to Atalanta’s two. Their expected-goals figure was also higher at 1.30 compared with 0.58.

Atalanta did win the corner count 5-4 and had five shots off target to Juventus’ four. The visitors also passed at a slightly higher accuracy rate, 90% to 89%, but Juventus completed more passes overall, 513 to 449. Atalanta’s goalkeeper made three saves, compared with one for Juventus’ goalkeeper, yet the two goals reflected the home side’s sharper finishing in the decisive areas.

Points and form change after the final whistle

Bremer was the standout performer, earning a match rating of 7.9 after playing 91 minutes, scoring once and recording one shot on target. Juventus move from seven points after four listed games to 10 points after five. Atalanta, previously on six points from four matches, remain on six after the defeat. Juventus’ recent sequence now includes three wins, a draw and a loss, while Atalanta’s form reads two wins followed by three defeats in their five most recent matches.
