14 Shots and Seven Saves Shape Lanus-Argentinos JRS Draw

Lanus drew 1-1 with Argentinos JRS at Estadio Ciudad de Lanus, Buenos Aires, in Liga Profesional Argentina’s Clausura - 6. The result ended with both sides sharing the points after two goals in the final 20 minutes, despite Lanus producing the greater attacking threat by several measures.

Late goals decide an open contest

Lanus broke the deadlock in the 70th minute. Felipe Peña Biafore finished a move assisted by Carlos Izquierdoz, giving the home side a lead that reflected its sharper work in front of goal. Argentinos JRS responded quickly, however, with Gastón Verón equalising four minutes later after an assist from Nicolás Oroz.

The visitors’ response came amid a busy spell of changes. Verón replaced Tomás Molina in the 70th minute, while M. Giménez came on for H. Lopez at the same time. Lanus also made three second-half substitutions, including Y. Valois for F. N. Watson in the 59th minute and L. Besozzi and M. Sepúlveda for D. Aquino and A. Wlk in the 72nd.

Lanus created more chances

The scoreline did not fully reflect the balance of the attacking statistics. Lanus had 14 total shots to Argentinos JRS’s 10 and led 8-2 in shots on goal. The home team also recorded four corners to two and posted an expected-goals figure of 1.50, compared with 0.44 for the visitors. Argentinos JRS’s ability to hold 60% possession and complete 445 passes at an 86% accuracy rate did not translate into a sustained stream of efforts on target.

Brayan Cortés was the standout performer by match rating. The Argentinos JRS goalkeeper earned a 9.3 after making seven saves in 83 minutes, helping his team remain level despite Lanus’s superior shot accuracy. Carlos Izquierdoz also made a significant contribution for Lanus, receiving a 7.6 rating while supplying the assist for the opening goal, one key pass and two tackles.

Points shared in the Clausura

The only disciplinary incident listed was a 75th-minute yellow card for Lanus’s G. Perez; Argentinos JRS received no cards. Lanus entered the match 13th in Clausura Group A with six points from five games, while Argentinos JRS were second in Group B with 12 points from five.
