0-0 draw leaves Instituto top and Atletico seventh in listed Clausura standings

Atletico Tucuman and Instituto Cordoba drew 0-0 at Estadio Monumental Jose Fierro on Saturday, leaving both sides with a point in Liga Profesional Argentina’s Clausura sixth round. The result ended a match with limited attacking production, as Instituto held more possession but neither team found a breakthrough.

Few chances in a goalless contest

Instituto, set up in a 3-4-3 by Diego Flores, controlled 58% of the ball and completed 266 passes, compared with Atletico’s 196. Their passing accuracy was also slightly better at 78%, while Julio Falcioni’s 4-1-4-1 recorded 75%. That territorial advantage, however, produced only three total shots and two efforts on target.

Atletico created even less, managing two shots in total, with one on target and one off target. Instituto had two shots inside the box and an expected-goals figure of 0.39, compared with Atletico’s 0.06, but the scoreline remained level. The visitors’ edge in possession and chances therefore did not translate into a goal, while Atletico’s three corners to Instituto’s one also failed to change the contest.

Cards and changes shape the second half

The match produced an early disciplinary sequence, with Leonel Di Placido booked in the 10th minute and N. Lamendola cautioned four minutes later for Atletico. L. Vega was shown a card in the 57th minute, while Instituto’s M. Gallardo was booked in the 49th minute and J. Mendez received a late caution in the 85th.

Instituto made the first major set of changes, introducing J. Lazaro for J. E. Cordoba Mosquera in the 58th minute, F. Suarez for M. Tissera in the 71st and J. Acevedo for A. Luna in the 74th. R. Ruiz replaced M. Brondo for Atletico in the 80th, followed by Mendez replacing G. Abregu for Instituto and A. Canelo coming on for Lamendola.

Table positions remain unchanged in the listed standings

In the Clausura Group B standings supplied for the current round, Atletico were seventh with eight points from five matches, a record of two wins, two draws and one loss. The draw adds another point to their campaign total, although no updated ranking is provided. Instituto entered as the Group A leaders with 12 points from five games, having won four and lost one; their unbeaten result here preserves their position in the listed table while adding a point to that tally.

Mosevich stands out

Leonel Mosevich was the joint-highest-rated player, earning 7.3 for Instituto. He recorded one tackle in his 48 minutes, sharing the match’s top rating with Fernando Alarcon.
