Lanus turn 11 shots into a 3-0 win over Riestra

Lanus defeated Deportivo Riestra 3-0 at Estadio Guillermo Laza on Monday, with a dominant second half completing a convincing Liga Profesional Argentina victory. The result came in Clausura - 9, after Lanus led 1-0 at half-time.

Wlk Duré gives Lanus the lead

Lanus took control in the 11th minute when Allan Steven Wlk Duré finished an Eduardo Salvio assist. Riestra’s 5-3-2 formation, led by coach G. Duró, could not prevent the visitors from opening the scoring, while M. Pellegrino’s 4-2-3-1 gave Lanus an early advantage to protect.

Riestra created opportunities but could not turn its pressure into a goal. The home side recorded 23 total shots, compared with 11 for Lanus, including 13 attempts from inside the box. However, Lanus finished with six shots on goal to Riestra’s six, and goalkeeper N. Losada made six saves. Those figures show that Riestra produced more volume, but Lanus was more efficient with its chances.

Lanus settles the match after the break

Riestra made three substitutions at half-time, bringing on Tomás González, Nicolas Watson and Rodrigo Gallo for Antony Alonso, Jonathan Goitia and Carlos Quintana. The changes did not alter the score. Lanus instead extended its lead in the 69th minute, as Wlk Duré scored again from another Salvio assist.

Five minutes later, Felipe Peña Biafore added a third goal, with Matías Sepúlveda providing the assist. Wlk Duré was replaced by Yoshan Valois in the 78th minute after completing his two-goal performance. Riestra also introduced Ángel Almada and M. Graneros during the second half, but could not reduce the deficit.

Possession and discipline

Lanus controlled 64% of possession and completed 410 accurate passes from 527 total, compared with Riestra’s 192 accurate passes from 294. The visitors also committed fewer fouls, eight to 18, although both teams had four corners. The scoreline was therefore more decisive than the shot totals suggested: Riestra had 10 shots blocked and seven off target, while Lanus converted three of its more limited attacking efforts.

Felipe Peña Biafore was booked in the 45th minute for Lanus. Mariano Bracamonte and Alexander Díaz received Riestra’s only yellow cards, in the 77th and 82nd minutes respectively. There were no red cards.

Table impact and standout performer

Riestra entered the round 12th in Clausura Group A with nine points from eight matches, while Lanus was 11th with 10 points. The victory takes Lanus to 13 points after nine games; Riestra remains on nine points after its ninth match. The result also ended Lanus’s listed run of inconsistent form with a win, while Riestra added another defeat to its recent sequence.

Wlk Duré was the outstanding performer, earning an 8.7 rating after scoring twice in 78 minutes and registering four shots on target. Salvio also made a major contribution with two assists and a rating of 8.3.
