32 Shots and a Late Winner Keep Flamengo Second

Flamengo defeated Corinthians 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday, September 13, with Bruno Henrique’s 89th-minute goal securing the win in Regular Season Round 27. Lucas Paquetá had put Flamengo ahead shortly after half-time, while Gui Negão briefly brought Corinthians level.

Paquetá gives Flamengo the lead

Flamengo controlled the opening phase and created the clearer chances, but the breakthrough came three minutes after the interval. Paquetá scored in the 48th minute to give the home side the advantage. He was also booked two minutes later, adding a disciplinary note to an influential performance.

Neither team received a red card.

Hugo Souza made seven saves for Corinthians, compared with none for Flamengo’s goalkeeper.

Flamengo strengthens second place

Corinthians remained 13th on 32 points, with eight wins, eight draws and 11 losses. Flamengo’s recent sequence improved with the victory, while Corinthians added another defeat to a mixed run that had included losses, wins and draws.

Paquetá leads the ratings

Paquetá was the standout performer, receiving an 8.2 rating after 86 minutes. His contribution included the opening goal, two shots on target, two key passes and five tackles. Bruno Henrique also made a decisive impact from the bench, scoring once and putting two shots on target in 16 minutes.
