Boca strike early and control the result

Boca Juniors defeated Central Cordoba de Santiago 3-1 at Estadio Alberto J. Armando, with the hosts leading 2-0 at half-time. The victory came in Liga Profesional Argentina’s Clausura round nine and extended Boca’s advantage after a fast start in Buenos Aires.

Ángel Romero opened the scoring in the fifth minute, converting from Enner Valencia’s assist. Six minutes later, Valencia doubled the lead after receiving the final pass from Dylan Gorosito. Those two goals gave Boca a firm platform, and Central Cordoba could not reduce the deficit before the interval.

Boca’s third goal arrived in the 56th minute. Romero completed his brace with Carlos Palacios providing the assist, putting the home side three goals ahead. Central Cordoba made three changes between the 65th and 68th minutes, including the introduction of Martín Francisco Cuitiño, while Boca later replaced Lautaro Blanco, Tomás Belmonte and Valencia.

Cuitiño gave the visitors a late response in the 90th minute, scoring from Fernando Martinez’s assist. The goal narrowed the margin but came too late to alter the outcome. Cuitiño finished as Central Cordoba’s highest-rated player after 25 minutes, with one goal, one shot on target and one key pass.

Shot volume favours Central, accuracy favours Boca

The scoreline reflected Boca’s more effective finishing rather than a large advantage in attempts. Central Cordoba registered 15 total shots to Boca’s nine, but only one of those efforts was on target. Boca put six shots on goal and had two goalkeeper saves recorded against Central Cordoba. The visitors also led corners 6-2, while Boca held 55% possession and completed 470 accurate passes compared with Central Cordoba’s 355.

The numbers suggest Central Cordoba created more shooting opportunities, particularly from outside the box, where it had eight attempts to Boca’s three. Boca’s greater accuracy separated the teams and helped turn its early chances into a three-goal lead.

Discipline and table impact

Boca collected three yellow cards: Gorosito in the 17th minute, Belmonte in the 26th and Marco Pellegrino in the 39th. Central Cordoba’s cautions went to Leonardo Sequeira and Santiago Moyano. Neither team received a red card.

Romero was the standout performer, earning an 8.5 rating after scoring twice in 72 minutes and recording two shots on target. Boca entered the round eighth in Clausura Group A with 11 points from eight matches; the win took its tally to 14. Central Cordoba, listed 14th with seven points from eight games, remained on that total after its fifth Clausura defeat.
