Lucas Boyé’s Hat-Trick Sends Alaves to a 5-2 Win

Alaves establish control before Osasuna respond

Alaves defeated Osasuna 5-2 at Estadio Mendizorrotza on Sunday, September 6, with a commanding display that secured the home side all three points in La Liga’s fourth regular-season round. Quique Sánchez Flores’ 3-1-4-2 setup produced a 2-0 half-time lead, while Luis Miguel Ramis’ Osasuna side used a 4-4-2 formation.

Lucas Boyé opened the scoring in the 27th minute, finishing after an assist from Mariano Díaz. Díaz then turned provider into scorer nine minutes later, making it 2-0 with Antonio Sivera credited for the assist. Alaves carried that advantage into the interval and had built a clear platform for victory.

Osasuna made an immediate response after the restart. Ante Budimir reduced the deficit in the 46th minute following a pass from Moi Gómez, but Alaves restored their two-goal advantage five minutes later when Boyé completed his second goal of the game from Carles Aleñá’s assist. Budimir struck again in the 64th minute, this time from the penalty spot, bringing Osasuna back within one.

The visitors’ hopes of levelling lasted only four minutes. Boyé completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute, with Angel Pérez Hidalgo supplying the assist. Pablo Ibáñez Lumbreras added a fifth Alaves goal in the 90th minute, also assisted by Angel Pérez Hidalgo, to settle the result.

Boyé leads an efficient Alaves attack

Boyé was the standout performer, receiving a 9.4 rating after scoring three times in 85 minutes. He registered three shots on target and also made three tackles. Angel Pérez was another major influence for Alaves, earning an 8.5 rating with two assists and three key passes. Mariano Díaz contributed a goal and an assist before being replaced by Aitor Mañas in the 71st minute.

The statistics show a competitive contest in possession but a sharper Alaves attack. The hosts held 51% of the ball and completed 331 accurate passes, compared with Osasuna’s 49% and 333 accurate passes. Alaves produced 12 total shots to Osasuna’s seven, including seven shots on goal compared with five. The margin in finishing efficiency was therefore reflected in the scoreline, even though the passing figures were close.

The match produced three yellow cards and no red cards. Abel Bretones and Rockson Yeboah were booked for Osasuna, while Abderrahmane Rebbach received Alaves’ only yellow card. Osasuna made three substitutions in the 60th minute, while Alaves changed three players at 71 minutes.

Alaves entered the round fifth with seven points from three matches and now move to 10 points after extending their unbeaten start to four games. Osasuna began sixth on seven points and remain on that total after suffering their first defeat, following a run of a draw and two wins.
