Barcelona’s 24 shots fuel a 5-0 win as Yamal and Fermín overwhelm Valencia

Barcelona swept aside Valencia 5-0 at Estadio de Mestalla on Sunday, September 6, maintaining their perfect start to the La Liga season. The visitors led 2-0 at half-time and added three more goals after the interval in a one-sided Round 4 contest.

Yamal sets Barcelona on their way

Barcelona needed only six minutes to take control. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring with a normal goal assisted by Fermín López, giving the visitors an early reward for their attacking approach. Fermín then doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute, with Anthony Gordon providing the assist.

Barcelona also attempted 24 shots, including 18 from inside the box, and registered 10 shots on goal. Discipline and standout performances

Barcelona’s control did not prevent three yellow cards: Pau Cubarsí was booked in the 45th minute, Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante in the 47th, and Fermín in the 65th. Arnau Martínez López received Valencia’s only yellow card in the 81st minute. There were no red cards.

Fermín was the standout performer, earning a 9.6 rating after 75 minutes. He scored once, supplied two assists, recorded three shots on target and created three key passes. Yamal also made a decisive contribution with two goals and five key passes.

Barcelona’s fourth consecutive victory takes them to 12 points from four matches, building on the three wins recorded before this game. They were listed first on nine points from three matches before kick-off. Valencia, previously 18th with one point from three games, remain on one point after adding a fourth defeat to their recent sequence.
